Technique recap

The granby roll turns your back over your shoulders so you can recover guard when someone passes or sprawls on you. Solo reps teach the head position and hip rotation that keep the roll safe.

3 key details

  • Look away from the shoulder you roll over so your neck never takes weight.
  • Drive off the feet and swing the hips over, not the head.
  • Finish facing your partner with your knees and feet back in front.
